ArtAlbum helps you capture or upload artwork photos and label photos, scan and identify artworks, save notes, organize entries, and browse your collection by album, map, and calendar.
This Privacy Policy explains what information ArtAlbum may collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using ArtAlbum, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
- Artwork content: Photos you capture or upload, label photos, detected text, titles, artists, dates, media, museum or place details, notes, favorites, and other artwork fields you save.
- Visit and organization data: Album, map, calendar, collection, visit date, and place information that you add or that is derived from the photos or entries you choose to save.
- App identity data: An app-generated identifier used to keep your ArtAlbum entries associated with your device or app profile. ArtAlbum does not require sign-in for first use.
- Subscription status: Information needed to confirm whether you have access to ArtAlbum Pro, restore purchases, and manage subscription features.
- Device and diagnostic data: Basic technical information may be processed to operate the app, diagnose issues, protect the service, and improve reliability.
Photos, Scanning, and Identification
When you choose to scan an artwork, ArtAlbum may process artwork photos, label photos, detected text, location information, and language preference to create artwork pages such as title, artist, date, medium, style, description, and related details.
Photos may be compressed before upload. Do not upload private, sensitive, or unrelated images that you do not want processed as part of your ArtAlbum collection.
AI Processing
ArtAlbum uses artificial intelligence features to identify artworks, clean label text, and create artwork details.
Before AI scanning is used, the app asks for permission and explains that artwork photos, label photos, detected text, location info, and language preference are sent to ArtAlbum and OpenAI, LLC to create artwork pages.
OpenAI processes this information as a service provider for ArtAlbum. We do not permit service providers to use this information for their own advertising or unrelated purposes.
External Explore Links
If you choose an external Explore option, such as ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, or Google, ArtAlbum may open that service with artwork details such as title, artist, year, and museum context. These actions are optional and user initiated.
External services are operated by their own providers and may process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
Location Information
ArtAlbum uses location information to help organize artworks on a map and calendar and to improve scan results when you choose to scan. This may include museum names, cities, countries, photo metadata, places you search for or select, and, if you grant permission, your current location for the purpose of suggesting a nearby place.
You can choose not to grant location permission. You can also edit or remove saved place details from your entries.
How We Use Information
- Provide core app features, including capture, upload, scanning, identification, organization, map browsing, calendar browsing, notes, and favorites.
- Create and maintain your saved artwork entries and related photos or labels.
- Improve scan quality, artwork matching, reliability, safety, and user experience.
- Confirm subscription access, support restore purchases, and prevent misuse.
- Respond to support requests and legal or security obligations.
Sharing and Service Providers
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help operate ArtAlbum, including hosting, storage, scanning, identification, AI processing, subscriptions, analytics, diagnostics, and customer support.
Service providers may include ArtAlbum's hosting and storage providers, OpenAI, LLC for AI analysis, Apple for App Store purchases, and RevenueCat for subscription entitlement management. These providers are allowed to use information only as needed to provide their services to ArtAlbum and must protect it with the same or equivalent privacy and security safeguards.
Subscription purchases are handled through Apple and the App Store. ArtAlbum does not receive your full payment card details.
Retention and Deletion
ArtAlbum keeps your information for as long as needed to provide the app, maintain your collection, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service.
You can delete artwork entries and images in the app where deletion controls are available. You may also request deletion or support by contacting hello@artalbum.app.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
ArtAlbum is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through ArtAlbum, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
International Use
ArtAlbum may process information in countries other than where you live. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last updated date.
